I'm new, what can I expect?
Welcome! Don't be shy, we have first-timers in every class. Power Rowing is a wonderful cardio workout that will work your entire body from head to toe. Rowing is low-impact so it is safe and extremely efficient. We have a full spectrum of experience and skill levels in our classes. If you are new to Power Rowing, please make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes before your first class so we can get necessary paperwork completed and show you around. If you are new to rowing, please make sure the coach knows so that they can give you some extra help as you get more used to how we row!
What should I bring?
Yourself, a water bottle, appropriate attire, and a positive attitude!
What is the proper attire for class?
We recommend clothing that is form fitting. Baggy clothes can get caught in the machine. You will also need sneakers.

How can I pay?
It is much easier to pay with a card, however we will take cash if you are in a pinch.
Why doesn't rowing feel hard?
At first, it may feel easy if you aren't properly recruiting your muscle groups. Grab the coach and ask for help if you need to figure out how to work harder. The fittest athletes work their hardest on rowing machines!
Do you offer Private Training?
Yes! We offer private training sessions for $75/hour, or $100 for long term personal training. You can contact for more information.
I have on-water rowing experience, is indoor rowing for me?
Yes! We have many classes designed to keep you in top rowing shape.
I'm over 60, is rowing for me?
Yes! Rowing is a sustainable, low-impact exercise that some people do well into their 80s or even 90s.
I'm pregnant, is rowing for me?
Yes! As long as your doctor has cleared you for exercise, and you are comfortable doing it.
I'm overweight, is rowing for me?
Yes! Each rowing machine can accommodate up to 500 pounds. Rowing is low impact and it is one of the most effective forms of exercise with low risk of injury.
Help! I left one of my belongings behind, what should I do?
The next time you come in swing by our "Lost at Sea" box, and ask someone at the front desk to help you find your things.
Single Class Passes expire 1 month from date of purchase. 5-Class Packs expire 3 months from date of purchase. 10-Class Packs expire 6 months from date of purchase. All class pack purchases are final. No refunds, no exceptions.
All Power Rowing Memberships (including discounted memberships such as Summer Specials and New Year's Specials) automatically renew monthly on the date of sale unless cancelled. You may cancel for any reason, at any time., you just need to let us know. You may also suspend your membership if you are away for two weeks or more. All membership purchases are final. No refunds, no exceptions.
We recommend arriving at least 5-10 minutes early for those new to the indoor rowing machine. Instructors will be on hand fifteen minutes prior to class for some one on one. Rowers should be on their machine no later than class start time. We teach proper rowing technique for in the first 5 minutes, and it’s critical that first-time students receive this instruction before taking class.
Class reservations may be cancelled without penalty up to 24 hours before the scheduled class. Each class not cancelled within the 24 hour deadline will result in a loss of one class from the purchased series or a $25 cancellation fee. Monthly members may cancel up to 12 hours before the scheduled start of class, but will be assessed at $25 late cancellation fee for cancellations made with less than 12 hours notice.
If a class is fully booked, you can opt to be placed on the waitlist, and we will notify you via email if a spot opens up. If you don’t get a notification in advance, but if you’re close by, we encourage you to drop into the studio. Often we don’t know if there are any last-minute cancellations or no-shows until the class begins.
Minimum Age Requirement
The minimum age requirement is 10 years old, with parental consent. Clients 10-15 years old must have a parent sign a waiver and may take classes so long as they are at least 5 ft tall and 95 lbs.
If you are running late, give us a call at 617-505-3168 and we will hold your spot for up to five minute of class start. If we don't hear from you by the time class starts, we will fill the seat with someone from the wait list. No one will be admitted after the first five minutes of class. See Cancellation Policy.
